Hello everyone. KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America 2026 is coming up in Salt Lake City, November 9 to 12, and the OpenChoreo maintainers will be there all week. If you're heading to Salt Lake City, we'd love to meet you.

A lot has happened since our first KubeCon in Amsterdam. That week, we announced that OpenChoreo had joined the CNCF Sandbox and shipped 1.0. Since then, 1.1 brought self-service resources like databases and queues. 1.2 brought project types. 1.3 brought cost insights and DORA metrics.

This time, we're coming to KubeCon with one idea. That is Platform Engineering for Humans and Agents. Here's where you can find us. All times are in Mountain Time (MST).

CNCF Maintainer Summitโ€‹

Sunday, November 8th, 2026

Lakmal and I will be at the CNCF Maintainer Summit. The one that was in Amsterdam(KubeCon EU 26) was my first Maintainer Summit. I really enjoyed the sessions on how OpenTelemetry built its contributor community, and how Metal3.io moved from Sandbox to Incubation.

The Maintainer Summit brings together the people behind CNCF projects to collaborate, share best practices, and explore how projects across the ecosystem can work together. We're particularly looking forward to connecting with fellow maintainers and exploring how OpenChoreo can integrate with other projects in the cloud-native landscape.

If you maintain a CNCF project and have been thinking about how it fits into a developer platform, come find us. We'd love to hear your take.

Project Lightning Talkโ€‹

Monday, November 9th, 2026 - 10:01-10:06am
Hyatt Regency, Level 4, Regency Ballroom B-D

I'll kick off the week with a five-minute Project Lightning Talk: OpenChoreo: One platform for your apps, resources and agents. Agents are starting to show up on both sides of the platform, as workloads it runs and as operators that run it. The abstractions we built for developers are what make both safe.

Project Lightning Talks are open to anyone with a KubeCon + CloudNativeCon pass, including the KubeCon-only pass.

Platform Engineering Dayโ€‹

Monday, November 9th, 2026

Platform Engineering Day is the co-located event closest to what OpenChoreo is about: building and scaling internal developer platforms.

At 10:25 am, I'll give a short five-minute keynote. I'll talk about the layer between a developer portal and your Kubernetes clusters, and why it ends up deciding how far a platform can go.

For the rest of the day, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, you'll find Lakmal, Sam, and me, along with a few colleagues, at the WSO2 booth. Drop by between sessions. We'll have OpenChoreo running just for you.

Project Pavilionโ€‹

Tuesday, November 10th, 2026 - 10:30 am-2:30 pm

Just like in Amsterdam, OpenChoreo will have a kiosk (P-1B) in the Project Pavilion. This is the best place for a longer conversation about the project itself.

We're also proposing to make agents a first-class concept in OpenChoreo, alongside components and resources. The proposal is open for feedback in discussion #5007. If you have opinions, the kiosk is a good place to share them.

MCP Was the Easy Half, The Rest Was a Skill Issueโ€‹

Thursday, November 12th, 2026 - 11:50am-12:20pm
Hyatt Regency, Level 4, Regency Ballroom CD

Lakmal closes out our week with a 30-minute session on what it takes to make a platform work for AI agents. We shipped an MCP server for OpenChoreo and watched agents pick the wrong tool, loop on broken paths, and skip steps they had no way of knowing about. Agent Skills closed most of that gap.

OpenChoreo at the SUSE boothโ€‹

Day and time to be confirmed

I'll also give a short talk on OpenChoreo at the SUSE booth. We'll update this post with the details.

Come say hiโ€‹

Amsterdam was our first KubeCon as a project. Salt Lake City is our fourth. If you're building a developer platform on Kubernetes, or working out where agents fit into yours, find us at any of the spots above. We'd love to hear what you're building, and what's getting in your way.

We should be easy to spot. Look for the T-shirts that say Platform Engineering for humans and agents.

See you in Salt Lake City!
